Introduction

All companies make investments in IT. In today’s world it is no longer sufficient for an IT department to spend money or resources without quantifying the returns on investment back to the business. Similarly, it is also unrealistic for a business to continue to demand value from IT without an appropriate framework for dialogue and mutual understanding of IT investments. IT Portfolio Management is a framework for analyzing, managing and communicating IT investments across multiple portfolios of both static and dynamic IT assets. It’s a powerful mechanism for driving and maintaining business-IT alignment, and today, world-class organizations are using it to manage their entire IT portfolio and provide substantial returns to their businesses.

In order to make the best decisions about if, how, when and where IT Portfolio Management would fit within and benefit your organization. This course will provide you with an overview and the knowledge to be able to relate IT Portfolio Management to your own business / IT context.
